School Forest Bell

I started by determining an approximate number of decibels needed to cover 1/2 a mile of land and found it would be somewhere around 110db. 

We (SAPS) went to the Lodi Golf Club (which has a 19" cast iron bell at the end of the second hole) and rang it to see how far the sound reached, as well as how many decibels it produced. You could hear it from a house that is 1/2 a mile away from the bell.

 

We then used that information to try to find a bell that meets all of our requirements
